Corbeau

Grave, superb, of the saintly days of yore

We have been betting on this raven-black Cabernet Sauvignon since 1999, refining our organic production method year after year, so as to always guarantee bottles that live up to its name. Local excellence with an international spirit.

A CHALLENGE TURNED INTO HISTORY

It’s not figures, grape varieties, awards or the name on the label that determine how the wine in the bottle tastes. Observe the people around you, pay attention to the thoughts flowing, the environment and its atmosphere: it’s all part of history. Everything resonates when you drink Corbeau. Life is multi-faceted, just like our wine, yet it is the union of all the elements that makes the work complete.
Corbeau is the product of Luretta’s best bunches of Cabernet Sauvignon, winner of a Quattro Viti award in 2015 and a Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso in 2002. Produced in Luretta’s Roncolino vineyard, is considered among the best cru of the Colli Piacentini region. A piece of the region’s winemaking history resulting in a powerful, deep, internationally-inspired wine. Black, intense, structured and atypical: this is our Corbeau, an austere Cabernet Sauvignon that stands out among the Luretta reds for its depth and character.

character

Cantina Luretta's excellence. The best grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon transformed into an austere and intense wine, rich in structure and characterized by balsamic scents of incense and sweet spices. A wine to be contemplated alone or paired with main courses of red meat.

At first, the art of puzzles seems like a short art, of little depth, all contained in a bare teaching of Gestalt theory: the object targeted is not a sum of elements that should first be isolated and analyzed, but a whole, a form, a structure: the element does not pre-exist the whole, it is not more immediate or more ancient, it is not the elements that determine the whole, but the whole that determines the elements.

history

Corbeau was born out of a clear vision of what it means to produce wine at Cantina Luretta. In the late 1990s we decided to plant a vineyard on land purchased specifically for this wine. We knew that the limestone marls of this corner of the Colli Piacentini would lend the wine the personality we were looking for, and so it was.

The first vintage to be released on the market, the 2000 vintage, won a Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso award. For a recently born winery it was like winning an Oscar as an emerging director. A great satisfaction that pushed us to further improve our Corbeau, refining the technique and taking care of our land.

Corbeau continues to come out in erratic vintages, only when there is confidence that the grapes can produce a wine of the highest possible quality. The 2015 vintage, the most recent one, went on to win the prestigious Quattro Viti award, the highest honor bestowed by the 2021 Guida Vitae ai Vini d’Italia.
