Oh Captain! My Captain! Produced following a secret recipe jealously guarded for generations, this rough and intense red wine is indeed an exclusive one, available exclusively at our winery in a limited number of bottles only.

Paying no heed to anybody’s expectations, Capitano shows up at the door at erratic vintages, dictating the rules of a riddle that is impossible to solve. However, trying is worth it: it is only by digging beneath the surface that it will be possible to discover what this rare wine hides.

Powerful, mysterious and rich in structure: Capitano is a wine made from a combination of grape varieties, the mystery of which is a jealously guarded family secret. Intense aromas of red fruits and tertiary aromas of pepper and leather pay homage to the tradition of Colli Piacentini, ideal with red meats and savory main courses.

Capitano’s story is a story of experimentation, of dreams out of the ordinary and of a desire to upset the meaning of tradition. The first bottle appeared in 2003 in a very limited edition. It disappeared from shelves almost immediately, to then reappear on Luretta’s catalog in 2008.

Today there are only three vintages of Capitano: 2008, 2009, and the most recent one, 2016. The rustic and at the same time exclusive style of this wine – with its intense aromas of red fruits, spices and leather, all paying homage to its territory of origin – continues to astonish those who come to visit us in our cellar at Castello di Momeliano.
