Pantera

Rebellious, Cunning and Elegant

A lot has changed since 1997, but the essence of our Pantera remains the same: to innovate through the union of local flavors and international blends, so as to create a wine that bewitches and seduces. Round, enveloping and deep, this is Pantera.

The evolution of taste

Pantera is an icon that doesn’t need a temple to be worshipped in. Put aside the decanter and any useless pretension. A direct, punchy, yet welcoming wine to uncork on a rainy autumn day to toast to the present together with friends around a messy table.
Revolution in a glass. Succulent, spicy, and seductive, Pantera combines international flavors with the products of our land, without ever compromising. Originally it was Pinot Noir that gave shape to Pantera together with Barbera and Croatina, but with time our tastes changed and in 2003 we decided to combine the Colli Piacentini’s grape varieties with Cabernet Sauvignon. More than thirty years after the first bottle, the recipe continues to evolve year after year, following the experience of those who, with each harvest, reinterpret their grapes to create a wine that fills the mouth and rolls on the tongue.

Experience which is passed on from mouth to mouth is the source from which all storytellers have drawn. And among those who have written down the tales, it is the great ones whose written version differs least from the speech of the many nameless storytellers. – Walter Benjamin, The Storyteller

history

The first bottle of Pantera appeared on September 10th, 1998, one year after the harvest, offering a combination of Barbera, Croatina and Pinot Noir. Luretta’s intention with this wine was to break through the classic wine-making schemes and to give birth to an original and unusual product for the standards of the time. The idea of creating a wine at the crossroads of tradition and innovation proved to be successful and during the years Pantera has continued to evolve becoming an icon of Cantina Luretta. In 2003 Pantera was transformed: Pinot Noir was replaced by Cabernet Sauvignon in order to further reinforce the international character of the wine. Following our instincts would prove to be a good choice, which led Pantera to win three Due Bicchieri awards from the Gambero Rosso Guide in 2003, 2004 and 2015. In 2011, along with the entire Luretta collection, Pantera received the label “Biologic Wine” through the official European Union certification. The most recent expression of this ever-evolving wine is the 2018 vintage, a persuasive and characterful drink that continues to carry forward the Luretta mission.
