VISIONARY ARTWORK
character
Luretta's most awarded wine. 100% Chardonnay aged for nine months in oak barrels before release. Powerful floral explosion on the nose, followed by a dense, mineral palate that is impossible to forget. A wine to be contemplated or matched with refined shellfishes or white meat main courses.
I’m doing all this because I have one dream. The opera. The great opera in the jungle.
– Werner Herzog, Fitzcarraldo

history
The first bottle of Selin dl’Armari appeared in 1997. Although it had always been a dream of the winery – creating a wine capable of competing on the international scene in the Colli Piacentini region – the first bottle of Luretta’s Chardonnay was a great surprise.
Not an imitation of something already seen, but a bottle with a unique personality, representing the small corner of the world where it was born, while aiming for distant palates. The 1999 and 2000 vintages brought the first important awards: first silver and then gold at Château des Ravatys’ Chardonnay du Monde competition, one of the most important events in the world for Chardonnay producers.
Selin’s value was confirmed in 2013, when it won another gold medal. Nobody believed it was possible to create a wine of this caliber in the province of Piacenza. After more than twenty years from that first vintage, Luretta’s Chardonnay has become a symbol of the region recognized in Italy and abroad.
